Ready to get started in Article Marketing for yourself? This page lists some useful software tools and other resources, including many of the tools that we use ourselves.

As described in our Road Map, you need to think of more than just Article Marketing. You need to think of how Article Marketing fits into your overall Web business strategy. For that reason, we also list on this page several tools that are not directly related to Article Marketing, but which are essential in other ways.

Are we "giving away the store"? Well, frankly, yes, we are. Using these tools effectively will get you everything that we get paid to give you. What we're actually doing to earn our pay is that effective part. We write well, and we have learned how to use these tools well. You can, too, of course. But while you're learning, you can use our services to get your Article Marketing program started.

This list of tools and resources is divided into two main sections, to help you find what you want.

Here are some software tools and information resources we recommend for tasks related to Article Marketing.

Keyword Research

We use WordTracker more than any other keyword research tool. It does "only one thing," but that one thing - keyword research - can be applied to choosing the best domain name for your site, enhancing the placement of your site in search engine results, writing effective articles, and lots of other purposes.

General Article Marketing

We use ArticleAnnouncer from Jason Potash for promoting the FreeLanceSubmit.com site, and some members of our team also use it for their other Web businesses.

There are some negative reviews out there, but you must keep a few things in mind when deciding whether to use this product:

• First, it is not a magic wand. It automates the repetitive tasks of article publishing, but you must still take on the laborious tasks of signing up for accounts on the Ezines, Article Directories, and Article Announcement services that require it. The beauty of ArticleAnnouncer is that once you set this up, the software automatically logs on and posts your article for you.
• The included database of Ezines, Article Directories, and Article Announcement services is dynamic. You must ensure that you download the latest updates before using the product, and continue to check periodically for new updates. You can always update the information yourself, for instance if you find that an Ezine that was previously "wide open" now requires a login, rather than waiting for the publishers to provide the updates.

Please note that we do not use ArticleAnnouncer for providing our services. ArticleAnnouncer is geared toward a different requirement. It is good at managing a large number of articles written and published by one author, or a very small number of authors. Our service, managing a relatively small number of articles for each of a large number of authors, is not what this product does.

For other essential tasks related to building and promoting your Web site, here are some software tools and information resources we recommend.

Hosting Services

• Site Build It! Much more than a hosting service and much more than a hosting service with a site builder, SiteSell and Site Build It! (SBI!) provide you with everything you need to build and grow a successful Web business. One of their tag lines: "Why Just Build A Site When You Could Build A Business?" There is a complete listing and description of all the tools, all in one place, all for one low price where you can see what is included in this incredible package of tools and services.
• If you'd rather do it all yourself, BlueHost.com has an excellent hosting deal ($6.95/month at last check) with an excellent and easy-to-use site builder and management tool suite. Suitable for novices, and rich enough in features that even experienced Webmasters will appreciate it.

Web Site Authoring

Interspire provides a couple of great HTML editing tools you might consider:

• WebEdit is an easy-to-use "WYSIWYG" Web site editor. It is geared toward Web hosting providers offering it to their customers, but you could consider it for your own use on your own Web site.
• DevEdit provides more Web editing features for more complex Web sites, including support for XHTML, CSs, and an integrated development environment for scripting.

Affiliate and Advertising Programs

• The Super Affiliate Handbook, by Rosalind Gardner, guides you through the whole process of affiliate marketing on the Web, including pretty much every step on our Road Map. Ms. Gardner goes into much more detail on all of those steps that are not related to Article Marketing, so this e-book is a gold mine. (She also has a good deal to say about Article Marketing, so you'll want to read the book to get her angle on that, too!)
• SiteSell's affiliate program. Besides providing a full-featured hosting service that you should consider, SiteSell also offers one of the finest affiliate programs on the Web. And just as Site Build It! provides you everything you need to build a successful Web business, SiteSell's affiliate program takes an active role in leading you to success as an affiliate. (Go ahead and click that link, and you'll see immediatley that they don't just provide a place for you to sign up for their own affiliate program, but tell you what it takes to succeed in affiliate programs in general. Not your typical affiliate program at all.)
• ShareASale.com is an excellent affiliate program that can connect you to thousands of affiliate marketers.
• Google AdSense. Nearly every Web site out there displays Google AdSense advertisements. It is both an excellent source of revenue, and a kind of endorsement: Google excludes Web sites from their AdSense program if the site fails to meet their standards of quality. (Mainly, that means that the excluded site contains objectionable material, is misleading, or too light on content.) You may notice that FreeLanceSubmit.com has no AdSense ads. That's just because we're promoting our own services here, and we consider it crass to try to make money by both selling our own services and displaying third-party ads. Besides displaying ads, you can also use AdSense to promote your own Web site, displaying your ads on other Web sites via Google's service.

Other Tools

• ArticleLive, another offering from Interspire, is a ready-to-run on-line Article Directory. You get your domain name and hosting site (for instance, from BlueHost.com), install ArticleLive (or ask Interspire to install it for you for free), customize a few settings to make it look and work the way you want it to, and you're an Ezine publisher in a matter of hours. Just think of it: FreeLanceSubmit.com could be submitting articles to you next week!
• Interspire Shopping Cart is a complete E-Commerce solution for those who are selling their own products on their Web sites. It integrates with the major payment and shipping providers.
• A variety of Search Engine Optimization and other useful tools, many with limited free trial versions, are available from AddMe.com.
